The Brisbane Lions NEAFL team made history on the weekend, becoming the first team to win 15 consecutive wins, while also securing the 2019 minor premiership, by beating Southport by 125 points on Saturday.
Development Coach Zane Littlejohn said he’s proud of the players drive to continue to improve themselves.
“Obviously it’s been a great result. A lot of hard work, but I guess the most pleasing thing is the attitude of our plyers over those 15 games.” Littlejohn told lions.com.au
“They’ve been pretty successful this year, so the attitude can sort of swaver, but it just shows how driven they are as a group, and I guess how driven they are to continue to drive AFL standards at NEAFL level.
“It was a nice reward to get the 15th consecutive win for the year but we understand we still have a lot more work to do.”
Littlejohn said the second half, where the Lions piled on 17 goals to nothing, was extremely pleasing to the coaching group after a somewhat lacklustre first half, which saw the Lions go into the major break with an 18-point lead.
“The first half, we sort of didn’t play our best footy but the second half as a coaching group we were extremely pleased, it was probably our best half of footy we’ve played this year in regard to how we went about it without the ball.”
“Our pressure and ability to set up behind the ball, all those little things that you don’t get a stat for was what was really pleasing for us as a group.”
