Allen Christensen will return to the Den in 2020 after the small forward signed a one-year contract with the Brisbane Lions.

Next year will be the 28-year-old’s sixth season with the Club, since he arrived via Geelong in the 2014 AFL Trade Period.

Christensen’s form in the back end of the 2019 season warranted another year at the Lions. After playing in Round 4 and 5’s loss to Essendon and Collingwood, he was dropped back to the NEAFL for the next seven games.

On his return in Round 14’s win over St Kilda ‘Bundy’ was back to his best. He was fast, skillful and accurate with the ball – kicking two goals and laying six tackles.

He would keep his spot in the team for the remainder of the year, including the Club’s two AFL Finals Series appearances.

General Manager of Football David Noble credited Christensen for his hard work in 2019.

“We were impressed by the way Allen responded in the NEAFL side,” he said.

“He fought his way back into the AFL side and was determined to keep improving his game. When he returned to the senior side, the effort spoke for itself.

“We look forward to seeing what he will bring in 2020.”
