After waiting 12 years to play his first AFL Finals Series, Stefan Martin has been justly rewarded by being named the Finals Player of the Year.

2019 was the first time the Lions had played in September in a decade after they finished second on the ladder in the home and away season.

In their Qualifying Final against Richmond, Martin had 17 disposals, 11 of which were contested, five marks and 24 hit-outs.

Courageously in the Lions’ Semi Final against the GWS GIANTS, Martin played through a severely corked leg to be one of the best performing for the evening. He had 23 disposals, 19 of which were contested and 24 hit-outs.

Martin will return in 2020, after signing a one-year contract extension with the Club.
