On a balmy 2007 Brisbane night, one kick confirmed Jonathan Brown’s status as the lion king and sent the Gabba crowd into meltdown.

It was Round 20 and the Lions played host to the Sydney Swans.

At the main break, the two teams were locked at 25 points each.

One quarter later and the Lions trailed by 13 points, but it could have been more if the Swans were more accurate in front of goal.

A see-sawing final quarter saw the lead change three times before star midfield duo Simon Black and Luke Power willed the ball forward and into the outstretched arms of Brown.

As the seconds ticked down, a goal would level the scores.

Brown calmly converted from the pocket as the final siren sounded.

It was one of his four goals for the night. Nigel Lappin had a team-high 25 touches for the Club.

The final score was 9.9 (63) to 8.15 (63).
