Brisbane Lions AFLW Head Coach Craig Starcevich was full of praise for his side, after they showcased their depth of talent and resilience in last night's 35-point win over Carlton.

Speaking after the game, Starcevich said that the Tuesday night clash provided a good opportunity to test new talent in the side.

“We’ve always had a pretty even group but we’ve never been tested to have to bring them in,” Starcevich said.

“To actually get Ruby [Svarc] in tonight, get Sharni [Webb] back, get Zim [Farquharson] her first game is great because we need to find out what the depth of our list actually looks like.

“We had an opportunity through the adversity of what we’ve just been through, so it’s been good to test out the depth of the list, no doubt.”

Debutants Ruby Svarc and Zimmorlei Farquharson both showed plenty of promise in their first run out in Lions' colours.

Lions Academy product Farquharson played her part in two goals early on before slotting her own midway through the final quarter.

Clever forwards Greta Bodey, Jess Wuetschner and Jesse Wardlaw were critical players up forward, booting two goals each throughout the fiery affair.

While experienced talents Nat Grider and Emily Bates put together two of their strongest career games, playing an integral role in the win.

Jade Ellenger and Orla O'Dwyer provided great run for the Lions, making themselves known at nearly every contest.

You wouldn’t have known that 16 days had passed since the Lions’ last took to the field, with the side looking as hungry as ever in the 35-point win.

“I’m just really pleased with how they responded tonight.

“For them to get out there and run around, compete at game intensity, it’s bloody pleasing to see.”
