It’s like father, like son for this weekend’s VFL side, with two father-son prospects headlining the inclusions in the Brisbane Lions VFL team against Sandringham Dragons.

Darryl McDowell White and Will Ashcroft have both been named in the clash at Trevor Barker Oval tomorrow morning.

A dual sport athlete who has spent time in the States playing College Basketball, McDowell White, son of Triple Premiership Brisbane Lion Darryl White, will have his first taste of VFL football on Saturday after assisting from the sidelines with the Lions VFL side as a runner this season.

While Will Ashcroft, son of Brisbane Lions legend Marcus Ashcroft, will make his return to the VFL team in this weekend’s clash after previously playing several games for the Lions VFL earlier in this year.

Last week Ashcroft formally agreed to join the Club as a father-son selection at this year’s AFL national draft.

The pair come in for AFL listed duo Jack Payne and Jaxon Prior who have been recalled into Head Coach Chris Fagan’s Best 22 against St Kilda at Marvel Stadium this Friday night.

AFL-listed star Deven Robertson also returns to the side after missing last week’s clash against the Werribee Tigers, along with Charlie Bowes.

With two rounds left to play in the Smithy’s VFL home and away season, the Brisbane Lions are in the box seat for a top four finish should they perform against the Dragons this weekend.

The Brisbane Lions VFL will face the Sandringham Dragons on Saturday August 13, 11:05AM at Trevor Barker Beach Oval.
