It’s a big week this week!

It’s the AFL's annual Sir Doug Nicholls Round recognising and celebrating indigenous players and culture and we get the opportunity to do so in front of a packed Gabba.

So Lions Fans get ready as we take a look into this week’s Match Preview.

Last Time We Met

Last time: Brisbane Lions 20.14 (134) d Richmond 7.11 (53) Round 16, 2023

In a true king of the jungle performance, led by a dominant midfield, our boys were harder, stronger, and more polished in our 81-point victory against the Tigers last time we met.

Joe Daniher led the way in the forward fifty kicking five majors, while Hugh McCluggage was superb, with his precision kicking a feature of his 34 disposals (at 82 per cent efficiency) that included nine score involvements.

Lachie Neale had a night out with 34 disposals, 10 clearances and two goals and Josh Dunkley (20 touches) was influential with just about every touch he had.

Back in front of our home crowd, the boys will be looking to make it two from two at the Gabba this month and continue our drive up the ladder.

Excited About

Dunk’s 150th Game!

Selfless, tough, the ultimate teammate.

That's just a few words that sum up Josh Dunkley as a teammate. The vice-skipper runs out for game 150 tonight and what an honour it has been to watch him wear the maroon, blue and gold each week.

Since landing at the Lion’s den Dunks has not put a foot wrong, finishing fourth in the 2023 Merrett-Murray Medal (his first year at the Lions mind you) and taking home the Player’s Player Award.

We wish Dunks all the best and know the boys will be looking to bring home a big win for him!

Match-ups we're keen for

They’ll be fierce contests everywhere across the ground tonight. This week we’ve leant on the keen analysis of the AFL as to who could be the game shapers this week. This is what the AFL said:

Game-shapers

Josh Dunkley has been a blessing for the Lions this season, lining up in every match and delivering consistent performances even as the side have had to face up to form and fitness concerns. The midfielder will play his 150th match this week, after starting with 116 games at the Dogs, and might appreciate more licence to roam against the wounded Tigers.

Daniel Rioli's importance to the Tigers has continued to grow this season as his experience and polish in defence becomes ever more crucial. The three-time premiership player has even kept taking the game on and looking to create with the second most bounces in the competition as well as 20.8 disposals and 4.9 rebound 50s per match.
