Camp diary: Cheynee Stiller

Camp’s going really well so far, but some of these boys I’m a bit worried about. Brent Staker apparently got someone to take a photo of him taking his shirt off at the beach, and then got the photo and put it on his own Facebook page - as if that was just him casually at camp at Noosa. Any reason to get his shirt off, he loves it.

Anyway, this morning we kicked off with an early morning training session down at the Noosa Tigers Footy Club, and it was probably about 30 degrees by 7 o’clock when we started.

We had eight 150m sprints, then probably about 40 minutes of footy skills, and then another six 300m sprints, just to top us off. It was an extremely tough session.

Richie Newell dominated the sprints again after blitzing us all in the 3km time trial on Monday. The big fella, Browny, was absolutely flying. I went reasonably well, I was up there amongst it which was good I suppose.

Then we headed down to the beach for a recovery session. Ryan Harwood had a group of guys all circling around in the shallows trying to fish with their bare hands. He spent about half an hour trying to catch this fish… but it didn’t go too well. He thinks he’s Bear Grylls.

Then after that a few of us chilled out at Aroma’s and had a couple of coffees to get us through before coming back to the hotel for lunch, and then back in the conference room for another round of meetings. We’re having a lot of meetings, being the start of pre-season, and they’re good. I think we’ve been really productive and punchy and we’re getting some good information out of them.

Then we split into two groups this afternoon around 3pm and had a gym session with weights down on the beach. There were some big sandbags to carry around and we did a bit of a circuit for upper body work. We had to do some commando crawls too which are everyone’s favourite.

Physically, it was tough and it’s probably the biggest day we’ve had since coming back.

The Lions are spending their first week of pre-season at training camp on the Sunshine Coast. Keep an eye on lions.com.au for all the exclusive news, diairies, and video from Noosa.
