The Brisbane Lions today announced an exciting four-year extension with Platinum Partner, Hyundai Motor Company Australia.

Hyundai and the Lions originally joined forces back in 2010, with the world’s fastest growing auto brand taking Naming Rights of the Club’s training and administration facilities, the Hyundai Centre, and the Hyundai Lions Academy.

Since 2010 Hyundai has been in the hearts and minds of Brisbane Lions players, supporters and members. With the announcement of the new deal, this is set to continue until at least the end of the 2018 season.

Five years after the partnership was first launched, Claye and Dayne Beams helped announce the extension of the partnership for 2015 and beyond.

The brothers were on hand at Willowbank Raceway to test out the Hyundai Veloster SR Turbo and officially announce the new deal, whilst dialling up their sibling rivalry.

As per previous years, the partnership will again have a strong focus on reinforcing both Hyundai and the Lions’ strong commitment towards community, grassroots AFL and sport in general.

As part of this commitment, Hyundai will continue to be the Naming Right’s partner of the Club’s Academy Program, which will be rebranded as the Hyundai Help for Kids Lions Academy.

Hyundai Help for Kids is a collaborative partnership between Hyundai Motor Company Australia, and the 161-strong Hyundai National Dealer Network, which  assists organisations focused on supporting Australian children in need.

The Hyundai Help for Kids Lions Academy, formally known as the Hyundai Lions Academy, enables the Brisbane Lions to gain access to local talent within designated zoned areas throughout Queensland and construct a pathway for these players to potentially join the Club as senior players in the future.

The program aims to attract promising young athletes, allowing the Club to fast-track the development of up to 120 young Queenslanders each year.

Brisbane Lions’ CEO, Greg Swann said it was tremendous news to have Hyundai renew its commitment to the club.

“We have been on a great journey with Hyundai so far and to once again have the brand re-sign with us is fantastic for our Club,” said Swann.

“The Hyundai Help for Kids Lions Academy is a key part of our partnership. The success of this program has been outstanding over the past few years, with the likes of Jono Freeman, Archie Smith, Jordon Bourke, and most recently, Liam Dawson and Harris Andrews, all coming onto our list from the Hyundai Help for Kids Lions Academy.

Terry Mulcahy, Hyundai’s Regional General Manager for the Northern Region, said:

“We are proud to commit to supporting the Brisbane Lions, its members and the community in Queensland for at least another four years.

“Our partnership allows us to showcase our new vehicles and provides innovative touch points for Lions members, supporters and fans.

“We are once again thrilled to be supporting the Hyundai Help for Kids Lions Academy and develop the next generation of Lions’ champions.”
