The return of the Brisbane Lions’ original guernsey – the one famously worn by the Club during its 3-Peat premiership success – has certainly fuelled fans’ excitement in the lead-up to the 2015 season.

One such fan, Steve Janevski, has even gone so far to writing and producing a song inspired by his own ‘pride in the jumper’.

You see Janevski is not only a long-time Lions member, but also a songwriter and guitarist with Melbourne-based melodic rock band, The Radio Sun.

Together with his fellow band members – Jason Old (vocals), Robbie Erdmanis (bass), Ben Wignall (drums), and guest musicians Hanny Mohamed and John Cavaliere from Black Majesty – he has helped produce a special track entitled ‘Never Knock A Believer’ as a tribute to his beloved Club.

With an incredibly catchy tune and relatable lyrics, the song will no doubt ring true for the majority of Lions fans.

Janevski said he took great satisfaction in producing this labour of love.

“I've been a passionate Lions supporter ever since I can remember. My parents grew up in Fitzroy near the Brunswick Street Oval, and I have been following the Lions ever since. Now my children are now Brisbane Lions supporters and have that same pride in the jumper, as we say!” Janevski told lions.com.au.

“Never Knock A Believer was written purely from a selfish fanatical love for the Lions. At first I wrote it just for me, but also for 'us' Lions supporters. I thought it would be cool to write a heavy rock type of song in the style of the iconic Australian rock 'n' roll band AC/DC that would bring on adrenaline and give you a rush – kind of like how it feels being at a Lions game.

“Lyrically, I tried to focus on how us Lions feel as supporters – we're believers, we're passionate, with a love for the jumper. Call me one-eyed, but it's that 'never say never' attitude that the Lions have that we all embrace.

“All of us in The Radio Sun are looking forward to playing it live!

Janevski and The Radio Sun will treat Victorian-based fans by performing the song live at selected Lions supporter events throughout 2015.
