CAPTAIN Tom Rockliff will return to lead the Lions against the West Coast Eagles at the Gabba on Sunday for ANZAC Round.

The 25-year old spent two nights in hospital after suffering broken ribs and a punctured lung in the round one loss to Collingwood.

The diagnosis for recovery was four to six weeks; however, Rockliff completed main training this afternoon and will take his place as the Lions' skipper.

Match Preview: Lions Vs Eagles

Claye Beams’ injury wasn’t as bad as originally thought. Beams broke his little toe after catching it on the side of the pool at a team session on Tuesday.

He has been named in the squad and a final decision on his ability to play will be determined following training on Saturday.

Tom Cutler, Mitch Golby and Nick Robertson have also been named with Matthew Leuenberger and Ryan Lester in the extended squad.

Cutler, Golby and Robertson have been rewarded for recent form in the NEAFL.

Jaden McGrath and Sam Mayes will miss with injury and Matt Maguire has been omitted.

McGrath was diagnosed with a stress reaction in the navicular bone in his foot on Tuesday, and has been ruled out for 8-12 weeks.

Mayes also reported pain in his foot after the weekend’s game, with scans revealing a stress reaction. He will miss at least 2 weeks.
