My parents loved touring Australia, as kids we were always travelling; and so I was lucky enough to visit a lot of interesting places.

Even though I’ve travelled overseas, as an adult I’ve prefered exploring my own backyard, and being able to drive across the country. I’m always thinking of where to next.

Some of the best parts of travelling is the preparation beforehand – deciding where to and planning ahead for one day when I’ll get to go on big trips around Australia.

When I was younger I remember my dad decking out the back of his car for work and then on the weekends he would take the tools out and prepare it for camping.

During my downtime I’ve been making some drawers for the back of my ute for when I’m out camping. I've completed a carpentry apprenticeship and really enjoy it when I get the opportunity to work on new projects. The fridge sits on top of the drawers and there’s a drop down fridge slide which allows easy access.

Having the drawers for extra storage means I’m pretty self-sufficient when I’m on the road too. There’s enough room for the fishing gear, tools, food and other items to keep me going for a few days.

At the end of the season I’ll head up to Fraser Island with some mates for a fishing trip, go on some hunting trips around Brisbane and then in October I’m heading back to the Victorian High Country for a couple of weeks where I’ll live out of the car.
