Tom Rockliff and Dayne Zorko have spoken out about their alleged "rift", saying the claims are laughable.

Vice-Captain Zorko said claims made on a nationally televised television program were "well and truly off the mark".

"Rocky goes about things really well as Captain of this footy club," Zorko told lions.com.au

"You could see from the reaction from a heap of the boys across social media last night how much of a laugh it was to suggest that we are angry or fighting with each other.

"Sure, there are times when I reckon his dress sense could be called into question - but in all seriousness, we have been good mates for a while and will continue to be."

Captain Rockliff said it was easy for outside critics to take uninformed swipes at the Club while on-field performances were below par - but that did not excuse them.

"We are really close mates," Captain Rockliff said of Zorko.

"It's laughable to think anyone would suggest that we are anything otherwise.

"Leppa tells us that it's the tough times that are the making of footy clubs.

"I totally agree with that, and despite a lot of the rumours that fly around at this time of the year, be assured that we are a tight group with a common goal.

"We really appreciate all the support we get from our members and fans, and we want them to know that we are working together to turn results around."
