We take a look at some of the key stats from our Round 18 game against the Essendon Bombers.

We had five more hitouts to advantage than Essendon

Despite being -10 in terms of hitouts, we had five more hitouts to advantage. We were +20 in terms of first possession and +14 in terms of clearances.

Martin had 15 hitouts to advantage and Mitch Robinson and Rocky had 15 clearances between them.

 

Points against us

91-points against is a Season best defensively and the fewest points against us since Round 20 last year.

Inaccuracy helped us with Essendon's accuracy in front of goal being 41%.

Our accuracy in front of goal

It was our best day in front of goal for the year (74% accuracy). We kicked 10.2 from set shots, 6.4 from shots on the run and 4.1 from snap shots.

This was helped by having 21 shots at goal from the corridor - of which we kicked 18.3.

 

Number of Essendon's intercept marks

Essendon took 21 intercept marks for the day, 12 of which were contested.

Essendon's Goddard had seven intercept marks and Francis had four.

According to the AFL Player Ratings, Martin had a career best game.

Also in the ratings, Josh Walker had his best game for the Club with four goals.
