ASSISTANT Coach Murray Davis says it was pleasing to see the successful execution of our game plan against the Bombers result in a win for our fans on the weekend.

"It was a terrific result,” he said.

“We’re so pleased to see all of our members and supporters in Melbourne there to see a Victory."

Speaking about our game plan, Davis said it’s a matter of week-by-week planning against the opposition.

"We plan based on our opposition each week,” he said.

"We’ve been working on and tinkering with things all year basically.

"The game plan we went into with was all about Essendon."

Evidently, the game plan was executed well by our boys, but Davis believes it was our ability to make the most of our opportunities that was key.

On the weekend, we produced our best conversion in front of goal for the year.  We kicked with an accuracy of 74%, kicking 10.2 from set shots, 6.4 from shots on the run and 4.1 from snaps.

Davis said the reason for this success in front of goal can be attributed to where we took our shots.

The graph below shows where we took our shots against Essendon. We had 21 shots from the corridor, of which we kicked 18.3.

“That was really pleasing… It’s really good footy when you can hit the scoreboard like we were able to,” Davis said.

Another strength in our game on the weekend was our leaders who all stood up to be counted.

"I thought our leaders were terrific, I thought they really stood up and showed what it meant to play for this great club,” said Davis.

"It’s now the challenge to back it up again."
