AFL.com.au says: Adelaide is chasing an elite midfielder and, despite management pouring cold water on the speculation, there has been genuine interest in Carlton midfielder Bryce Gibbs. The former South Australian is an attractive target for the Crows, who are chasing quality midfield depth. Lions skipper Tom Rockliff has also been linked to the club. The Crows are playing a wait-and-see game with free agent Ricky Henderson and out-of-contract midfielder Jarryd Lyons, while veteran Scott Thompson is considered more likely than not to play another season.

AFL.com.au says: Tom Rockliff is contracted for 2017 but speculation about his future won't go away after talks for a long-term extension with the Lions broke down earlier this year. Adelaide has been the club linked most strongly with the Lions' skipper. Pearce Hanley is also contracted for next season but appears likely to move, most likely to Gold Coast, with the Lions reportedly seeking a top-10 pick for the dashing defender. Small forward Josh Green is also open to a trade, while out-of-contract defender Darcy Gardiner's talks with the club continue to drag on.
After Daniel Merrett's retirement, the Lions are looking to bolster their backline, with tall defenders Jack Frost (Collingwood) and Lynden Dunn (Melbourne) among their targets.

It seems their first-round pick, No.5 overall, will be required to complete the trade, with the Giants also likely to send a later pick back to the Blues and/or a player such as key forward James Stewart. Carlton is also interested in Giants speedster Jarrod Pickett, the No.4 pick in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft. The Blues have offered Zach Tuohy a three-year deal, but several rival clubs are circling the out-of-contract defender. Star midfielder Bryce Gibbs was linked with a move to Adelaide this week, but his management strongly refuted the report.

Despite being linked to former Kangaroos Brent Harvey and Nick Dal Santo, the Magpies won't be going down that track, however they are hopeful of luring Greater Western Sydney forward Will Hoskin-Elliott. Key defenders Nathan Brown, who is a free agent, and Jack Frost are weighing up their options with North Melbourne and Brisbane Lions interested in that duo respectively.

They should also net another pick in the 20s for Michael Hibberd, who is set to join Melbourne. The Bombers have some interest in out-of-favour West Coast defender Eric Mackenzie and will also explore some speedy options for outside run.

Contracted small forward Hayden Ballantyne is seeking a trade to West Coast but has also attracted interest in Victoria. Free agent Chris Mayne is expected to join Collingwood on a four-year deal believed to worth more than $500,000 a season, which should net the Dockers a second-round compensation pick. Fellow free agent Zac Clarke is expected to make a decision on his future late next week after attracting interest from several rival suitors, while midfielder Michael Barlow and fringe players Clancee Pearce, Matt de Boer and Tendai Mzungu could all depart. Midfielder Nick Suban is contracted for 2017 but is on the trade table.

The Suns are expected to meet Lions defender Pearce Hanley this week, are keen on Collingwood ruckman Jarrod Witts and Dogs midfielder Lin Jong, and will chase pick No.6 for Prestia to add to their six selections inside the first 27. From there they can go shopping, but will focus on the draft if they can't secure quality players through trades. Expect the Suns to make the Hawks work hard for O'Meara.

AFL.com.au says: The Giants' stockpile of young talent will again be raided by rival clubs this trade period, with Caleb Marchbank (Carlton), Will Hoskin-Elliott (Collingwood), Cameron McCarthy (Fremantle), Jack Steele (St Kilda) and James Stewart (Carlton or Collingwood) all set to depart. GWS could make a bold bid to snare the No.1 draft pick from Essendon, a move that will depend on it securing pick No.5 from Carlton as part of the Marchbank trade, then forwarding that selection and pick No.7 to the Bombers. If Essendon agrees to that deal, the Giants are believed to have explosive Sandringham Dragons half-back Andrew McGrath in mind at pick No.1. GWS is one of several clubs that have expressed interest in big men Nathan Vardy (Geelong) and Jarrod Witts (Collingwood).

AFL.com.au says: The Hawks are going to have their hands full brokering trades for Sun Jaeger O'Meara and Swan Tom Mitchell, and will be hoping Richmond don't match their offer for restricted free agent Tyrone Vickery in an attempt to force them into another trade. Bradley Hill's likely move to Fremantle could secure a draft pick – most likely the second-round compensation pick the Dockers are expected to receive when free agent Chris Mayne departs – that helps Hawthorn complete these trades, but it will almost certainly have to part with a player too, with Luke Breust and Will Langford among the possible trade pawns. Emerging key defender Kaiden Brand looks set to ask for a trade after resisting the Hawks' recent attempts to re-sign him beyond 2016, but free agent Brendan Whitecross has satisfied a trigger clause to play on at Waverley in 2017.

AFL.com.au says: Michael Hibberd is first on the shopping list with the club and player committed to each other. Selection No.26 should be enough to get Hibberd, although Essendon has been historically tough to deal with at trade time. Beyond that the Demons are expected to be relatively quiet, with Jesse Hogan's signature remaining a priority. Although the industry was abuzz last week that he had re-committed, both parties poured cold water on that speculation. The Demons will want another ruckman to support Max Gawn while they are open to trading Lynden Dunn to the Brisbane Lions.

The Roos have been linked with Chris Mayne, Nathan Brown and Zach Tuohy, but are believed to have cooled on all three after deciding to 'reset' their list late this season. North is keen to fast-track that process by acquiring extra first-round draft picks but will only trade star ruckman Todd Goldstein if offered an exceptional deal. The Roos are also keen to bolster their ruck stocks with a mature-age recruit.

Hartlett has been linked to Gold Coast as part of a three-way trade that would send Richmond's pick No.6 to Port and Sun Dion Prestia to Punt Rd, however, it's understood Hartlett would prefer to move to a Victorian club. Contracted ruckman Matthew Lobbe is also likely to move in search of more opportunity with Paddy Ryder set to assume Port's No.1 ruck role upon his return from a WADA suspension. Although the Power's focus is on securing early draft picks, they have expressed interest in Geelong tall Nathan Vardy.

AFL.com.au says: After missing out on several big-name recruits in recent years, the Tigers convinced Suns midfielder Dion Prestia to nominate Punt Road as his preferred new home. The Tigers will probably have to send pick No.6 to Gold Coast to get the deal done, but could receive one of the Suns' four second-round picks or a fringe Sun in addition to Prestia. Richmond made a big play for Geelong speedster Steven Motlop last year and rival clubs suspect they could renew that interest this year, possibly as part of an exchange for star veteran Brett Deledio. Despite constant denials from club and player, Deledio, 29, seems likely to depart as the Tigers seek to refresh their list. Richmond will also look to bolster its ruck division if veteran Ivan Maric accepts an offer to join Collingwood.

Uncontracted utility Dean Towers has attracted rival interest both in and outside Victoria and could leave in search of more regular senior games, but uncontracted tall Xavier Richards is expected to re-sign.
