Brisbane Lions trio Rohan Bewick, Daniel Rich and Michael Close combined to take out the Legends Triathlon at Noosa Heads on Saturday.

Close made up plenty of ground in the final leg, moving from fourth to first and overtaking a motor- racing ace in the process.

"I overtook a couple of people and then I saw Mark Webber and I thought I can round him up here," Close told The Sunshine Coast Daily.

"Ro swam well and Rich was on the bike and put us in a good position."

The race boasted plenty of big names, including a Cowboys team featuring Ben Hannant, a Geelong team with Cam Guthrie, V8 stars Jamie Whincup and Will Davison, Olympic swimmer Bronte Barratt, kayak legend Ken Wallace, Olympic swimming icon Libby Trickett and Noosa Triathlon legend Emma Snowsill.

Ex-State of Origin star Mat Rogers was also in action, among others.

As for Close, he's relished his time at the Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival this week.

"It's great fun. This is my first year up here," the 22-year-old said.

"I played a bit of golf (on Thursday) and then was at the kids triathlon (on Saturday morning) and then this."

Close is on the comeback trail after surgery about a month ago and is looking forward to the season ahead.

"We've made a few changes (at the Club) and we needed to," he said.

"We've got a new coach in (Chris Fagan) and we’re going to have a young list but hopefully we can improve."
