It's been a long time coming, but Brisbane Lions Rookie Blake Grewar is ready to make the most of his shot at the big time.

Grewar was picked up by the Lions as a Category B Rookie selection at the 2016 Rookie draft.

The 23-year old had been on the AFL Draft radar for several years where he has earned a reputation as one of the best young midfielders in the NEAFL competition.

Grewar has seen a few drafts 'come and go,' and despite a few setbacks, remained confident that his chance would come.

"It's been a long time coming but I've definitely seen a few drafts come and go," Grewar told lions.com.au.

"Obviously I've always wanted to get onto a list, but as the years went on it sort of slowly dwindled away.

"But I always thought I was good enough.

"It's a relief to get an opportunity with a Club like Brisbane and I'm really looking forward to it, being my home state."

Grewar is one of 12 recruits looking to prove himself to his new teammates over the pre-season. Now at the INC Pre-Season Training Camp, the new Lions are making the most of their opportunities to mingle and form greater bonds.

Grewar has hit the ground running since joining the Club, pushing himself to the limits as he looks to gain the respect of his new teammates and coaches.

"My aims and goals for the pre-season before Christmas was just to try and get to know all the boys, really to try and gain some respect in training from the players and coaching staff," Grewar said.
