Brisbane Lions midfielder Hugh McCluggage is set to miss 3-4 weeks after injuring his ankle in Thursday night’s JLT Community Series game against the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.

Brisbane Lions Head of Medical Peter Blanch said that the injury was worse than first thought.

“He went over on his ankle in the first quarter,” Blanch said.

“He pushed through – he was a bit unsteady on it. We’ve had scans done and it’s a bit more damage than we thought.

“Hugh’s going to be out for probably three or four weeks.”

Last week five players returned to the field for either the Senior or NEAFL side.

Tom Bell, Dayne Beams and Eric Hipwood made successful returns in the Seniors, while Dan McStay and Reuben William got through the NEAFL practice match against Redland fine.

In other injury news, Allen Christensen underwent surgery last week, while Josh Schache and Jono Freeman are back running.
