Brisbane Lions midfielder Allen Christensen has had surgery on his injured collarbone.

Lions Head of Medical Peter Blanch told lions.com.au that Christensen was recovering well from the operation that took place last week.

“He had the old plate taken out,” said Blanch.

“Fortunately the fracture had healed with some fibrous growth, so he had that bone grafted and another plate put back in.”

Scans revealed in late April that Christensen would miss the remainder of the season after a crack had developed in the surgical steel plate that had been implanted to strengthen his broken collarbone.

Meanwhile Reuben William will be available for the Lions’ Round 6 NEAFL match against the Swans. William dislocated his shoulder in the NEAFL round one win over the Swans.

“Reuben’s done very, very well in his rehabilitation. His shoulder is very strong and he’s looking to get back this weekend.”
