Player Review: Lester Ryan Lester was known as Mr. Fix-it this season and was a good team player.

Ryan Lester is one of the Club’s more consistent and reliable players and in 2017 fittingly played all 22 games. At the start of the season “Froggy” was named in the Lions seven-man Leadership Group, a role he thoroughly enjoyed. Lester celebrated 100 AFL games in Round 21’s win Q Clash victory over Gold Coast, where he kicked two goals.

Coaches’ Comment, Danny Daly, Strategy Coach

A fantastic year for “Froggy” who played all 22 games. A welcome addition to the Club’s leadership group shows Ryan’s value and standing to his team mates. Ryan was the ultimate role player for the team and filled numerous positions throughout the year and averaged 16 possessions, kicked 14 goals and finished 9th in the clubs best and fairest.

In their own words:

“You probably get caught up in it a little bit, you don’t think about it too much and then every now and again, such as a milestone, you sit back and realise it’s something you dreamt about as a little kid.

“I think the Club is in a really healthy shape at the moment. Potentially my seven years at the Club, we’re in the best position we’ve been in terms of a lot of young talent. We’re in the right hands with Fages (Chris Fagan) and David Noble.”
