The Brisbane Lions are proud to welcome Ruby Blair into their pride, with their sixth pick (41st overall).

As a junior growing up on the Gold Coast, Blair was often the only girl playing on the footy field.

The 18-year-old plays either as a small defender or midfielder who wins contested ball at ground level.

A strong competitor, she will look to run or change the direction of play at every opportunity and has the pace to out-run oppositions. At halfback, she reads the play and intercepts the ball very well.

At the 2017 National AFLW Combine in Melbourne Blair finished first in the agility test.

Earlier this year she played for Queensland at Under 18 National Championships and was an inaugural member of the NAB AFL Women’s National Academy.
