Bella Ayre will play her first game for the Brisbane Lions against her former Club Carlton in Saturday night’s highly anticipated clash at Ikon Park.

The 19-year-old came to Brisbane last year after being traded with Blues’ teammate Nat Exon.

Ayre will replace Gabby Collingwood on the bench and is the only change for Round 3.

Coach Craig Starcevich said he is excited to see what Ayre can do in Lions colours.

“Bella has come back from some minor injuries and worked very hard to get herself into a position to be ready by Round 3,” Starcevich said.

“She has excellent marking skills and clean hands. We are excited to see her play.”

For Ayre, this moment could not come soon enough.

“I’m really excited to finally run out with the girls, I feel like my hard work and rehab has paid off,” she said.

“I’m looking forward to playing against my old team.”

For those in Melbourne, the Lions will be holding an open Captain's Run at Wesley College in St Kilda tomorrow, from 5-6pm AEDT.

MemberHQ and the Lions Shop will be in attendance at the game on Saturday. Located at Gate 5 from 4pm.
