The Brisbane Lions and boxer Jeff Horn share a special history.

On July 2, 2017 they both produced defining victories against imposing opponents, who many thought they didn’t stand a chance.

The Lions were up against an in-form Essendon team, who would finish the 2017 season in the top 8.

That July afternoon, in perfect footy conditions at Etihad, the Bombers led at every quarter break. Four minutes into the fourth quarter they held a 27-point lead, until the Lions started to surge.

Kicking six of the last seven goals Brisbane went on to win and in turn shock the Bombers. Senior Coach Chris Fagan said the victory was character building and gave his young team belief.

Up the road at Suncorp Stadium, Horn was creating history in the boxing ring. The “Battle of Brisbane” fight against Manny Pacquiao was billed as a David and Goliath battle, with many believing Horn would be knocked out quickly. But the Hornet silenced all critics to triumph and was crowned the WBO welterweight champion.

This Sunday 11 June, the Lions and Horn hope history will repeat itself.

At the Gabba the Lions will meet the Bombers at a 1:10pm bounce.

Around the same time, halfway across the world in Las Vegas, Horn will be fighting to defend his WBO Welterweight title against American Terence Crawford.

At the Gabba this Sunday Lions and Horn fans will not be forced to choose between the two battles!

The Lane Way Bar at the Gabba will be playing the fight!

Watch the fight from the top of Gate 7 at the bar located just outside of section 55.

Heres hoping the Lions and Horn are each other's good luck omen!

Head to the Lane Way Bar from 12.00pm to watch the fight before bounce!
