Scans have revealed Brisbane Lions AFLW Captain Emma Zielke broke a non-weight bearing bone in her ankle in Saturday’s win over the Gold Coast in Game Three of the Winter Series.
Medical staff say Zielke will make a full recovery in time for the 2019 AFLW season.
Lions AFLW CEO Breeanna Brock said it was disappointing to end such a successful series on a sour note.
“We are disappointed for Zilks, but know she will be ready in time for next season,” Brock said.
The Lions remained undefeated at the conclusion of the inaugural three-game Winter Series against GWS Giants and Gold Coast.
