Lions NEAFL Coach Shane Woewodin is looking forward to his new role as NEAFL Coach and his team’s first hitout this weekend against last year’s Premiers - Aspley.

The game is scheduled for 1pm at Burpengary and Woewodin is excited to see many of the young Lions in action for the first time this year.

“Real exciting for myself in a new role but also for the players to get out and for the majority of them, it is their first hitout for the pre-season.

“Hitting other bodies against the opposition and not hitting our own.

“There are a couple of boys who have come back from the AFL team and are going to play their second game but for the majority of the group, real exciting that they can get out there and play their first game.”

Coming up against last year’s Premiers in Aspley is also going to be a great test first up for the young Lions players.

“They are a quality team Aspley, obviously last year’s Premiers against Sydney, not sure of the team they will role out, they might rest a few senior boys.

“But they are well coached and well drilled and it’s a great opportunity for our younger boys to pit themselves against a quality opposition early.”

Lions fans are encourage to get out to Burpengary and check out the young Lions players in action for the first time this season.
