Exciting speedster Kate McCarthy is flying towards 2019 after re-signing with the Club for Season 3.0 of the AFLW.

The Brisbane native is thrilled to be pulling on the Lions guernsey for her third season after signing her paperwork this week.

“I love Brisbane, it’s my home and I’ve always loved it here,” she told lions.com.au.

“I love the Club, I love the environment and the culture that we have.”

The 2017 All Australian says the Lions’ team-first approach and positive culture is the driver behind their success.

“Everyone wants to play for each other, we’re a team that wants to work hard and put in for one another,” she said.

“We don’t have one or two players who we always rely on and that’s always been a goal of ours and something we’ve worked towards and a reason why we’ve been successful.”

The Lions have started training for the upcoming inaugural Winter Series, which reunites the playing list over the long break between seasons.

“It’s great that we’ll be able to see each other once a week, keep in touch with the coaches more regularly and have access to the Club,” she said.

The school teacher is yet to miss a game for the Lions and hopes to perform strongly again in 2019.

In further good news, Nat Exon, Jordan Zanchetta and Shannon Campbell will rejoin McCarthy in the Lions Den next season.

Exon was traded to the Lions from Carlton last year and made an immediate impact after her debut in Round 2.

A pocket rocket, Exon led the Lions in tackles, finishing the season with 44. Her taste in hairstyles endeared her to Lions supporters and footy fans before she ultimately shaved it all off to raise money for the Leukemia Foundation.

Zanchetta, who was the Lions' first pick in the 2017 AFLW Draft, played five games in the midfield last season.

Campbell, known for her penetrating right boot, returns to the Lions’ backline in 2018.

The Sunshine Coast junior will forever hold a place in the Club’s history after kicking the Lions' inaugural goal in the AFLW competition.
