Brisbane Lions midfielder Dayne Beams has been ranked no. 28 in the AFL Players' Top 50.

The AFL Players’ Top 50 rankings are determined by the people who know them the best, the players, with all 18 clubs taking part and a total of 90 players receiving at least one vote.

After a high-profile switch from Collingwood before the 2015 season, Dayne Beams played a major role in the Lions midfield where he averaged 28 disposals, 13 contested possessions and almost seven clearances a match.

The star midfielder averaged the eighth most Champion Data ranking points of any player and was one of five midfielders to rank in contested possessions and clearances.

He missed the final five games in 2015 after undergoing surgery to his right shoulder in August, seeing a small slip from his 2015 AFL Players’ Top 50 ranking of no. 21.

At the beginning of 2016, Beams was named in the Brisbane Lions leadership group, which is voted by the playing squad, and, with a six-month recovery period behind him, Beams is looking to be fitter and stronger than ever for his return to footy.

Yesterday, it was revealed that Lions Captain Tom Rockliff had ranked in at no. 39, a drop from his previous years' no. 19.

The countdown continues until Friday 18 March, when the AFL’s No. 1 player is revealed – expect a few more Lions to pop up over the coming days.
