Brisbane Lions Assistant Coach Gary O’Donnell said Harris Andrews was straight back to where he left off in 2015 after the Club’s first full-ground match simulation of the year at Coorparoo this morning.

“It’s all only early days, but Harris Andrews started where he left off."

Andrews wasn’t the only player who impressed O’Donnell in their first hit out of 2016.

“Under hot conditions, the blokes did pretty well.”

“Squizzy (Lewis) Taylor was really busy and looked like he’d played a few games already.

“Rhys Mathieson looked like he’s got something to offer us in time, and Ryan Bastinac, a few times he got it and was able to use it pretty well.”

O’Donnell was also excited to test out a new forward line combination.

“It’s just an opportunity for a couple of the new boys, Hipwood, Schache and Walker to work together as well in one forward line.

“That was a first time for that and in coming weeks, that will be something that we hope evolves.”

The training regime has included contested football work for some time, but moving forward, O’Donnell said that there will be an increased focus on match simulation.
