JUSTIN LEPPITSCH has praised new recruits Mitch Robinson, Dayne Beams and Allen Christensen for the added leadership and experience they will bring to the Lions group in 2015.

Leppitsch spoke to RSN Melbourne this morning and singled out former Carlton midfielder, Robinson, for his leadership on and off the field.

“Everyone that knows Mitch knows he’s a very vibrant guy and he’s been very good with our training standards - not just on the track but in the gym - pushing guys”, he said.

“He’s always up and bubbly, bouncing around, he’s a terrific fella. He’s been very good for us and our Club.

“Beamsy’s a little bit more subdued with his leadership, he’s a bit more of the cool, calm type of leader which is what we need.”

Leppitsch said the addition of Beams will bring a sense of level headedness, especially during testing times within games.

“There were so many games last year where we panicked when the opposition team were coming back at us. He’s exactly what we need.

“Allen Christensen is the youngest of the three and his leadership (potential) is still growing, (but) he’s got the experience, having played in grand finals as a young fella”, he said.

“He’s a star player, we haven’t seen enough of him on the track yet. He’s coming back from surgery so his impact hasn’t been as great yet, but he’ll be ready to play in two weeks against the SUNS”.
