Ahead of this weekend's battle of the cats, we take a look at the player's you'd be keen to keep an eye on...

Dayne Zorko

Coming off on of the best games of his career, Dayne Zorko will be looking to follow it up as he runs out for game 100 on Sunday.

Last week, the zippy playmaker was electric in the first half against Carlton, blitzing the Blues by racking up 19 touches, 10 inside 50s, three goals (including his 100th) and four score assists.

Zorko’s forward-half pressure could prove dangerous, with an average of 10.5 pressure points a game and currently ranked fourth in the AFL with 59.5 a game, he'll be leading the boys down that end.

‘The Magician’ is ticking all the boxes and is a hot contender for the Club’s coveted Merett-Murray Medal to be announced at the 2016 Club Champion event.

Mitch Robinson

Also in career-best form is the ‘tagging king’, Mitch Robinson, who will most likely take on the Cats’ Patrick Dangerfield.

The rugged on-baller is averaging 23 possessions per game and the last time the two sides met, Robinson recorded 31 disposals to Dangerfield’s 26 before he was sent forward.

In the past he’s done an excellent job shutting down Carlton’s Bryce Gibbs and Essendon’s David Zaharakis. Can Robbo shut Dangerfield down again? We can only wait and see…

Patrick Dangerfield

An opposition analysis on Geelong would not be complete without mention of Patrick Dangerfield.

Danger’s return to his hometown has been nothing short of phenomenal, collecting the most AFLCA Player of the Year awards this season off the back of his career-high form.

His numbers speak for themselves as Dangerfield averages 31.4 disposals and 15.7 contested possessions for his 20 games – and is ranked 1st for Total inside 50s in 2016.

Joel Selwood

Last time we met, the dynamic-duo that is Patrick Dangerfield and Joel Selwood picked up 61 disposals (Selwood 35 and Dangerfield 26) between them in the team’s defeat over the Lions.

The superstar pair have led Geelong all season to be one of the highest rated midfield departments in the game.

Selwood’s 2016 numbers are as good as he’s ever produced.

Across 20 games, the triple premiership star is averaging 27.7 possessions, 13.4 contested possessions, 6.7 clearances, 5.5 tackles and 4.5 inside 50s.

Tom Hawkins

The big forward has kicked 37 goals in 12 games against the Lions, with his next best against Hawthorn (32 goals in 16 games).

Hawkins has also recorded a couple of career-high stats against Brisbane, booting seven majors in a big win over the Lions in 2014 and a career-best nine tackles in our Round 5 clash in 2009.

There’s no doubt Hawkins will aim to kick-start his run towards the finals with a good performance this Sunday at the Gabba.
