Claye Beams is considered a strong chance of lining up with the Lions Reserves in the Round 7 NEAFL clash with Southport on Saturday morning.

Beams has been sidelined since breaking a bone in his foot during the team’s NAB Challenge match against Sydney at Burpengary two months ago.
It was just his second match back after undergoing a full knee reconstruction early in 2013.

If given the green light to play the Sharks, Beams will bolster an already experienced Lions line-up that feature the likes of Brent Moloney, James Polkinghorne, Rohan Bewick, Mitch Golby, Ryan Harwood, Jordan Lisle.

A win would ensure the ninth-placed Lions stay in touch with competition’s leading teams, while a loss would consign them to the bottom six.

Southport, meanwhile, are currently the highest-placed team from South-East Queensland – sitting fourth on the table with four wins from six outings.

Led by the NEAFL’s leading goal-kicker, Josh Baxter, they will prove stiff opposition.

The NEAFL clash between the Lions and Sharks kicks-off at 11am at H&A Oval on the Gold Coast.
