Young midfielder James Aish will miss the rest of the season with a finger injury.

Aish ruptured a tendon in a finger on his left hand during the loss to North Melbourne at the Gabba on Saturday night.

He had surgery last night and will be in a splint for 6 weeks, with full recovery expected to be in excess of 12 weeks.

Brisbane Lions General Manager of Football, Dean Warren, said: “These injuries don’t heal by themselves, and for the best outcome they need to be operated on as soon after the injury as possible.

“James is one of our really good young players and we are really disappointed he will miss the rest of the season but our main concern is getting him 100% right.”
