The Brisbane Lions’ Reserves will be hoping to keep their impressive NEAFL winning streak alive when they face Gold Coast in a curtain raiser to QClash 5 at Metricon Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

While the Lions sit second on the NEAFL Northern Conference ladder as one of only two undefeated teams (along with Southport), the fourth-placed Suns’ form has been a bit more difficult to gauge from their opening two matches.

“They won their first game (against Mt Gravatt) by 20 goals, and then had 20 less scoring shots than the Swans in Sydney last week,” Reserves Coach Leigh Harding told lions.com.au.

“It’s hard to look at their form because it really depends on the availability of their AFL-listed players – and the same applies to us.”

“There’s a little bit of extra rivalry in there given the senior team’s QClash, but in the end it’s just another game and we have to stay focussed on developing our own players.”

Harding said it’s always a good experience for young players to be part of the senior game’s curtain raiser, as it helps bring the Club together.

“It’s pleasing that we’re all playing at the one stadium this weekend,” Harding said.

“It’s also great for the senior players to get a chance to watch their teammates play in the NEAFL.”

Fans heading down the M1 for the QClash this Saturday night are encouraged to arrive early so they can watch some of the Club’s developing players in action.

The Lions Reserves will play the Gold Coast Reserves from 4pm this Saturday 13 April at Metricon Stadium.
