The countdown to the 2013 AFL season is almost over, with the Brisbane Lions set to compete for the first time in more than six months this Saturday night at Metricon Stadium.

All Brisbane-based Lions fans are encouraged to make the trip down the Pacific Highway to support the team in their triangular series of NAB Cup matches against QClash rivals Gold Coast and reigning Grand Finalists Hawthorn.

The matches will not only signify the return of football in Queensland, but also help raise valuable funds for those affected by the recent Queensland floods.

This Saturday 23 February has been dubbed ‘Australia Day II’ – to help celebrate the Australia Day that so many Queenslanders never had after the devastation of Tropical Cyclone Oswald.

So what better way to celebrate Australia Day ll than at Australia’s Game this Saturday night at the NAB Cup triple-header featuring the Brisbane Lions.

The Red Cross, the NAB Cup’s official charity partner in 2013, will be collecting donations for flood relief during each of the three scheduled matches.

Fans will also be able to add some green and gold to their Lions colours by visiting the face painter when gates open at 5:30pm.

Even if you can’t make it down the Coast, LIONS@springwood will be broadcasting the matches live on Foxtel and collecting donations from members who attend the venue.
