New Senior Coach Justin Leppitsch wasn’t the only familiar face that greeted Luke McGuane when he joined the Brisbane Lions during the off-season.

McGuane was also reunited with former Richmond teammate Andrew Raines.

The pair spent five seasons together at the Tigers, before Raines moved back home to his native Queensland at the end of 2009.

McGuane has since followed in his footsteps – just four years later.

They’ve had plenty of time to get reacquainted in the past week given they’re rooming together at the team’s high altitude camp in Arizona.

“It’s been good. I’ve had the luxury service,” McGuane told LIONS TV.

“(Raines) has gone a bought a cook-top and he cooks up every morning. He cooked lunch yesterday, and breakfast – bacon and eggs.

“(His clean eating) is pretty extreme. I venture out (with my diet) a little bit more than he does. He loves his organic and that sort of thing, and won’t really stray from that.”

Post-season knee surgery might have limited McGuane’s training output in Arizona, but he’s still been able to get plenty out of the experience.

“I haven’t been able to do much because of a couple of injuries, but it’s good to be able to bond with the boys and get to know them,” he said.
