The Brisbane Lions Reserves proved they will be a force to be reckoned with in the QAFL this season after making easy work of reigning premiers Morningside in a practice match at Coorparoo on Saturday.

The Lions ran out comfortable 47-point winners - 15.16 (106) to 9.5 (59) - in tough conditions at the Club's summer training facility.

It was the Lions Reserves' second straight pre-season win against a quality opponent after defeating QAFL heavyweight Southport last week.

The Lions shot out of the blocks early, booting 5.7 (37) to the Panthers' one behind in the opening quarter.

James Polkinghorne and Tom Collier seemed to have the ball on a string early while Morningside struggled to move the ball forward.

The 36-point quarter time lead was extended to 43 at half-time courtesy of some magic around goals from Albert Proud.

The Panthers matched the Lions for much of the second half, but the damage had already been done.

The Lions shared the goals, with Polkinghorne, Cornelius and Dyson each booting three while Kent Abey led the visitors with three.

Polkinghorne, Proud, Collier, Cheynee Stiller and Troy Selwood were all prominent. The Club would have also been pleased with the performance of tough midfielder Ryan Harwood.
