Brisbane Lions forwards coach Jed Adcock said the team did not capitalise on forward entries in Saturday afternoon’s loss to GWS Giants.

Adcock said the team was impacted by the loss of defender Harris Andrews so early in the game, as it forced the team to change their line-up, with forward Josh Walker moved to the defensive line.

“Harris the last few weeks has been in sensational form. Form that will put him right up there with the best defenders in the league,” Adcock told lions.com.au.

“It changed our structure a bit. We took Walks from the forward line to the back because we needed the height which meant we were shorter in the forward line.

“In saying that, I think the team adjusted quite well.”

But the team did not capitalise on the 59 forward entries they had for the afternoon.

“We just couldn’t capitalise on our entries,” he said.

“It’s the kick, it’s the decision, patterns that the forwards are running. A bit of everything. In saying that, the ball movement has been very, very good.”

Ahead of the team’s first game at Optus Stadium against Fremantle this weekend, Adcock believes the team needs to focus on their ball movement and defensive structures.

“We’ve got to make sure we focus on what we do well,” Adcock said.

“Focus on ourselves and get that right and hopefully that’s enough for us to get the job done.”
