Richmond utility Luke McGuane is still anxiously waiting to see whether he will be joining former Tigers Assistant Coach Justin Leppitsch in Brisbane.

McGuane is an unrestricted free agent and expressed his desire to move back home to Queensland and play under Leppitsch at the Lions.

But the Lions haven’t been able to give the 26-year-old any guarantees as yet due to the uncertainty that still surrounds the trade period.

“Luke has indicated a desire to come to Brisbane and Justin (Leppitsch) sees some value in Luke coming to Brisbane also,” National Talent Manager Rob Kerr told Trade Radio.

“He would add a bit of depth to the list, and he’s familiar with the game style Justin wants to implement.

“We think there’s a spot there for him (at the Club). We’re just not entirely sure how the process will play out, so we need to keep spots open.”

The Lions are also waiting to hear whether veteran midfielder Simon Black is planning on going around again for a 17th season.

“The Club has said to Simon that he’s such a respected figure that we’re happy for him to make a decision,” Kerr said.

“He had knee surgery and has been in consultation with staff. He’s mulling it over as we speak.”
