Mitch Robinson headlines the inclusions for the Lions VFL side as they head to Sydney to take on the Swans in an SCG curtain-raiser.

Brisbane boast a strong side that will be looking to set the tone for their AFL teammates who are on a mission to win in Sydney for the first time since 2009.

Brisbane father-son prospect Will Ashcroft will also line up for the Lions this weekend following a brilliant start to his season in the NAB League.

Sunday’s clash will be the first time the Lions VFL side has played on the SCG in their Club’s VFL history.

Road trips have proved a challenge for the Lions so far this season, with the young side suffering losses to both Carlton and Geelong on the road.

With the confidence of a solid win at home last weekend under their belt, VFL Head Coach Mitch Hahn hopes that this weekend will be a different story.

"We're looking forward to the opportunity to win a game away from home first and foremost," Hahn said.

"Both our interstate games haven't gone the way we wanted, so to get a win away from home would be great for our young group.

"We're playing at the SCG in a curtain-raiser which is exciting, so to start the team on the right foot would be great."

Hahn was also complimentary of midfield bull, Rhys Mathieson and his impressive form.

"Matho's ability around the contest and his offensive play has been really strong.

"His ability to get the ball going forward has been really good and he's been a great leader for our young group."

Brisbane will take on Sydney at the SCG at 1:05pm. To stream, head here.
