West Australian teenager Elliot Yeo will become the fourth Brisbane Lions player to make his senior AFL debut in 2012, after being named in the final team for this Sunday afternoon’s match against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium.
Yeo was drafted to the Lions with their end-of-first-round Compensation Selection (Pick No.30 overall) at last year’s AFL National Draft.
Hailing from East Fremantle - the same junior club as decorated Lions team-mate Simon Black - Yeo represented WA in the 2011 AFL U18 Championships and proved a standout at the AFL Draft Combine with his speed, agility and prodigious leap.
He comes into the Lions’ Round 9 line-up along with forward Aaron Cornelius, who has been recalled after a couple of impressive outings with the Lions Reserves side.
Jared Polec and Patrick Karnezis have both been omitted from the side that defeated the GWS Giants by 92 points at the Gabba last week, and will join James Hawksley on the Club’s emergency list.
The Lions' final Round 9 team is as follows:
B: Ash McGrath (9), Matt Maguire (36), Josh Drummond (39)
HB: Jed Adcock (7), Joel Patfull (24), Mitch Golby (41)
C: Pearce Hanley (11), Tom Rockliff (38), Daniel Rich (10)
