The Brisbane Lions AFC today began a comprehensive search to find a new Chief Executive Officer through leading Queensland recruitment agency Davidson Recruitment.

Lions Chairman Angus Johnson said the appointment of a new CEO would complete an active off-field recruitment period for the Club.

"There have been a number of exciting changes to our Board, Administration and Football Department throughout the off-season, but the appointment of a high quality Chief Executive is most critical," Mr Johnson said.

"Our Interim CEO Steven Wright has done a magnificent job in restructuring operations and commencing preparations for 2011. Now we're looking for a permanent CEO to help lead our Club into its next phase, and that includes guiding us back to the top of the AFL competition."

Davidson Recruitment has built a strong reputation in the appointment of senior executives within the sport and entertainment industry with recent high-profile clients including the Brisbane Broncos (CEO), Queensland Rugby Union (CEO and CFO), Queensland Events Corporation (CEO and General Manager of Finance) and Brisbane Marketing (CEO) to name a few.

Davidson Recruitment Partner Peter Murphy said the available position presented a wonderful opportunity for a suitable candidate with the appropriate skills to become CEO of a highly respected national sporting organisation.

"The CEO position at the Brisbane Lions is one of the most pre-eminent and iconic roles available within the sporting industry and is particularly exciting considering the Club is about to embark on a new beginning," Mr Murphy said.

"We will be looking for a strong, commercially-minded business person who has an interest or deep knowledge of the sporting industry."
