It seems we're allergic to GIANTS Stadium, as we head once again to the nations capital to take on the GIANTS (we're not yelling, that's just how they do things down south).

We're not horticulturists, but having walked on Manuka Oval yesterday, the deck is looking primed for Lions footy.

You know the drill, we've done the research, collated the evidence and spoken to those in the know! This is everything you need to know about our Round 6 clash vs the orange team.

Last time we met

We roared into the top four last time we met the GIANTS (sorry for yelling again), here's what the AFL said about the game:

BRISBANE (now who's yelling) has put together one of its most complete performances of the season, demolishing Greater Western Sydney by 40 points at Manuka Oval on Saturday.

After injuries and COVID-19 ripped through them the previous week, the Lions cantered to a 15.9 (99) to 9.5 (59) triumph, giving coach Chris Fagan some nice selection headaches in the process.

The midfield, led by Brownlow medallist Lachie Neale and rugged inclusion Rhys Mathieson, laid the foundation, smashing the Giants 49-24 in the clearances and giving Brisbane field position all afternoon.

Hugh McCluggage was on another level, kicking an equal career-high four goals to go with an equal game-high 30 disposals, while Charlie Cameron (three goals), Cam Rayner (three) and Eric Hipwood (two) all profited from the great work further afield.

Be excited about

Zac Bailey's 100th

Saturday's a big one for Bails! One of our fan favourites will run out for his 100th game on Saturday and we hope it comes with a bag of goals to celebrate.

Energetic but humble, Bails spoke to us earlier about the milestone and said he's incredibly grateful to be a part of the Club.

“When I got to the Club I just wanted to play one game and to think I’m playing 100 after six years is amazing and I’m super grateful to the Lions for giving me that opportunity,” he said.

“It is pretty special, I got to the Club at a pretty good time, I think the years before I got there weren’t as good, so to have been able to be here as part of the Club’s rise is awesome.

Bails will become the Lions 59th 100-gamer, and at 23 years and 111 days on Saturday he’ll be the 13th youngest Lion to the magical milestone.

Key match-ups we're keen for

Brandon Starcevich vs Toby Greene

This one is going to be good!

If there's one thing Starce is good at, it's stopping small forwards, and Toby Greene is about as good as they come (outside of our team...).

The GIANTS captain was influential in their win over Hawthorn last week, collecting 24 touches and kicking three goals to will his side over the line.

But he's set to come up against a brick wall in Starce on Saturday, with his consistency and form again flying under the radar this season.

The ultimate competitor, watch for him to bring plenty of physicality and presence early against the GIANTS skipper.
