The Brisbane Lions had their biggest win in the VFL for 2023, running out 128-point winners over the Northern Bullants on Saturday.

A windy Genis Street Oval greeted the sides as the Lions looked to bounce back from an after-the-siren loss to Richmond the week before.

The Lions were switched on early with Nakia Cockatoo opening the scoring inside the first two minutes.

Kicking eight unanswered goals in the first term ensured the Lions were well on top at quarter time.

Majors to Bailey Gordon, Darryl McDowell-White, Kyle Dunkley, Harry Sharp and the returning Daniel Rich proved Brisbane was hungry to score despite the conditions.

Captain Wylie Buzza booted two goals in the first term and wasn’t to be stopped kicking majors in every quarter of the match, finishing with six.

Amassing 20 disposals and 12 marks, Buzza laid claims for best on ground for the Lions.

Bruce Reville kicked the Lions first of the second quarter with Buzza booting his third.

Academy product Billy Richardson got off the mark in his VFL debut as the Lions piled on 11 unanswered goals by half-time.

The Lions engine room was on song from the first bounce with ruckman Darcy Fort making a noticeable impact in his VFL return.

Fort dominated the ruck battle winning 34 hitouts, eight clearances and 28 possessions to prove his class and provide the midfield with first use.

Dunkley continued his good form collecting 29 disposals, seven clearances, seven tackles and a monster goal.

The Lions opened the scoring quickly in the third through Academy product Owen Collins.

Buzza booted his fourth and fifth goals before the Bullants answered with a goal of their own.

Jaxon Prior kicked the Lions fourth of the term to push the margin out to 91 points at three quarter time.

Prior controlled the half back line with 25 touches, six marks and four tackles to go along with his goal.

Fellow defender Darragh Joyce also kept the Bullants attack quiet with 22 possessions and 11 marks.

The Lions ran the game out strongly in the fourth quarter kicking seven goals to one.

Richardson kicked his second along with Collins and Kalin Lane.

Harry Sharp also booted his second major to finish as one of the Lions best with 30 touches, nine marks and two clearances.

Buzza kicked his sixth as Wilson Barry ensured the Lions would run out 128-point winners.

The Lions sit second on the VFL ladder heading into a bye this weekend.
