Brisbane Lions High Performance Manager Damian Austin has provided an injury update during the Club’s week off ahead of the Preliminary Final.

Forward Jack Gunston continues to progress well in his return from a MCL injury and completed a full training session on Tuesday.

The Club remains hopeful Gunston could be available for the third week of the AFL finals as initially stated, meaning a Preliminary Final for the Lions.

Despite having the option to play Gunston in this weekend’s VFL Preliminary Final, the Club believes it is best for him not to play and to continue to train instead.

Veteran Daniel Rich made a successful return to VFL in the weekend’s Semi Final win over Williamstown after overcoming a hamstring strain and will again play VFL in Saturday’s Preliminary Final against Werribee.

The Lions however confirm exciting forward Kai Lohmann will miss the rest of the 2023 finals series after fracturing his collarbone in Saturday’s VFL Semi Final.

The 20-year-old, who landed heavily after taking a high-flying mark on Saturday, had surgery on Tuesday morning.

Lohmann is expected to return to running within the next four weeks and build towards pre-season.
