Brisbane Lions midfielder-forward Charlie Mullins has been rewarded for her stellar 2025 season with selection in the AFL Players Association 22under22 team.

Mullins’ selection in the team comes off another strong campaign for the 21-year-old who has been deployed in the middle of the ground, up forward and off half-back throughout the year.

Lions AFLW captain Bre Koenen was full of praise for Mullins who continues to add different bows to her string in her short career so far.

“Charlie has continued to build year on year and it’s clear to see that with her performance on field so far this season,” Koenen said.

“It’s culminated in a well-deserved recognition of her year being selected in the 22under22 squad.

“She’s someone who doesn’t say a lot but shows it with her actions on-field and at training, we’re incredibly proud of her.”

Averaging 15 touches, Mullins has become an important ball user for the Lions transitioning from defence 50 to forward 50.

Players are selected by the AFL Players Association based on match statistics from Champion Data.

Due to such a high number of quality candidates, the squad was increased to 44 for Season 7 (previously 40).

The concept was first introduced to reward young players who make an impact on their Club and the competition so early in their careers, with this edition the fourth iteration of the AFLW 22Under22.
