The Brisbane Lions have welcomed a new crop of exciting young talent to its list on night two of the 2025 Telstra AFL National Draft at Marvel Stadium.
Western Australian duo Koby Evans and Cody Curtin joined the Lions at pick 38 and 43 respectively, followed by Queenslander Tai Hayes at Pick 44.
Brisbane Lions National Recruiting Manager Stephen Conole said the Club was pleased with how the Draft finished up.
“We are thrilled to have Kody, Cody and Tai become Lions players and we look forward to seeing them develop,” Conole said.
“All three players are promising young talents who we believe have bright futures in the game and are quality people who will add to the culture at the Brisbane Lions.”
The Lions opened the night drafting Evans, a 188-centimetre hybrid forward from Perth, after West Coast chose not to match a bid for their NGA talent.
Evans is known for his blistering pace and strong goal sense, who despite some injuries during his underage campaign still showed his potential.
“We are super excited to add Koby to our list because he is a very talented player,” Conole said.
“He had to overcome adversity this season and continued to work through this.
“Upon resumption of his injury he was outstanding at Colts level and made his League debut late in the season.
“He is a longer-term option, and we look forward to seeing his development as a Brisbane Lion.”
Curtin, a 200-centimetre key position player from Claremont was the Lions second pick on Thursday night as the Club added further versatility to its list.
The West Aussie is also the brother of Adelaide Crow Daniel Curtin.
“It’s great to add Cody to our list as he is a tall, powerful and competitive key position player who has the attributes to play a variety of roles for us,” Conole said.
“He was dominant throughout the WAFL Finals as a key forward and has also played down back for both WA and the AFL Academy teams.”
The Lions then selected Hayes to fittingly close out their draft campaign with some more Queensland talent.
Hayes, a relation of former St Kilda star Lenny, was a first-year VFL player at the Southport Sharks who played some exciting footy as left-footed outside midfielder.
“We are very excited to add Tai into our group as he showed enormous growth this year in his progression from QAFL to VFL with the Southport Sharks,” Conole said.
“Tai is a long-running left foot winger who has also pushed forward and impacted games at VFL level.
“I am sure he will continue to progress his game further as a Brisbane Lion player.”
The trio join Daniel Annable as the Club’s newest players after the Youi Brisbane Lions Academy graduate was selected with Pick 6 on night one.
