The Brisbane Lions AFLW side have added four new members to their list at the 2025 Telstra AFLW Draft this evening.
It was a historic night for the Lions with Meg Lappin selected at pick 54, becoming the first father-daughter selection in Club history.
Lappin’s father, Nigel, was a 279-game and three-time premiership player for the Club, between 1994 and 2008 playing for both the Bears and the Lions.
Earlier in the night, the Lions used pick 19 to select Eastern Ranges product, Asher Fearn-Wannan.
The 18-year-old, who stands at 177cm, will be another versatile option for AFLW head coach, Craig Starcevich with Fearn-Wannan used across multiples lines throughout her draft year.
"Asher is a tremendous athlete who loves to run and take the game on before swinging onto her left foot,” Lions AFLW List Manager, Michael Swann said.
“She impressed us with the way that she is able to read the game and has also shown a strong growth mindset, so it is exciting to think about the player she can develop into at our club."
At pick 33, the Lions selected Northern Knights midfielder, Marlo Graham adding more depth and skill to their midfield and forward line groups.
Graham has been touted throughout her draft year as a player with high footy IQ, lean hands, elite endurance and terrific defensive pressure.
"Despite an injury interrupted top-age season, Marlo displayed great resilience to get out on the park and show us her innate footy smarts and skill level,” Swann said.
“She is quick off the mark and has a huge tank which mean that she could be used across multiple lines."
Bendigo Pioneers product, Olivia Lacy was selected with pick 52, the Lions third selection for the evening.
The 169cm defender known for her cleanliness and leadership skills, Lacy has the ability to play as a midfielder, spending time there during her draft year.
"Smart, clean and composed with ball in hand. Liv is a competitor who has shown us that she is determined to make the most of an opportunity at AFLW level,” Swann said.
“Her willingness to hunt the opposition will add to our defensive line but could also be useful further up the field."
Father-daughter, Lappin, came at pick 59 with the 180cm tall defender drafted from the Geelong Falcons.
"It's really exciting to welcome our first father-daughter to the club tonight,” Swann said.
“When Meg is around the ball, she displays great instincts for fighting through traffic and making good decisions, we think that she is going to develop really quickly as part of our system here at the Lions."
