The Brisbane Lions have extended the contracts of premiership utility Bruce Reville and promising ruck-defender Zane Zakostelsky.

Reville inked a three-year extension until at least the end of 2029, while Zakostelsky has committed for two more years until the end of 2028.

Brisbane Lions General Manager Football, Danny Daly said the club was thrilled to have the pair re-sign.

“It’s a great reward for Bruce and Zane’s hard work and we are also delighted to have their families staying at the Brisbane Lions,” Daly said.

“Bruce is an incredible story of someone who chased a dream and never gave up – so he deserves everything that comes his way.

“And Zane keeps working on all areas of his game and continues to develop into a valuable dual position player for us.”

Reville, a graduate of the Youi Brisbane Lions Academy, joined the club as a Category B rookie in the 2023 Rookie Draft and debuted in 2024.

While trying to get drafted Reville worked multiple jobs including driving forklifts and working at an abattoir around his training commitments.

Since then, the Papua New Guinea-born utility played in the Lions’ 2025 premiership and continues to be a key player this season.

The 25-year-old said he was rapt to re-sign and believes the sacrifices made by himself and his wife Zoe have paid off.

“It feels amazing to re-sign and it means so much for me and my family – so it was one of the easiest decisions I have even had to make,” Reville said.

“I absolutely love this amazing club from the staff to the players as everyone here is incredible and has a genuine care for you as a person and a want to see you succeed.

“On a personal level I just want to reach my potential as I think I have a lot more to give and I am driven to get better every day.

“I feel as a club yes, we have achieved a lot in the last few years, but I think we can still in improve and strive for more.

“That’s one of the best things about this place; everyone is still so hungry for it and that’s exciting.

Zakostelsky, taken with Pick 51 in the 2023 draft from North Beach and WAFL club Claremont, made his debut in Opening Round this season.

The 20-year-old debuted as a ruck before playing his more natural role as a defender in Round 1 against the Sydney Swans.

Following encouraging performances in both matches the former Western Australian has been rewarded with two more seasons.

“I am absolutely over the moon to re-sign, it shows the club has belief in me and I’m really grateful for that,” Zakostelsky said.

“It’s a great club with a great culture and I’ve enjoyed my time a lot since being here

“Making my debut and to play a couple games early was an unreal feeling as I’ve been working towards it for a long time.

“Now I hope to keep on improving my game and put my best foot forward for senior footy and do whatever I can to try and help the team succeed".
