The Lions VFL team take on Casey Demons this Sunday with former AFL 205 gamer, Liam Jones and new Irish recruit, Ben Murphy set to pull on the maroon, blue and gold for the first time.

At 198cm, Jones, who played for Western Bulldogs and Carlton will start up forward, having joined the Lions at the end of 2025 season as a Development Coach and VFL Assistant Coach.

Ben Murphy adds some more Irish flavour to the Lions squad, joining fellow Irishmen Conor McKenna and Darragh Joyce in the team.

The 191cm, Murphy, who hails from Kerry and played GAA for Austin Stacks, was a rising star in Gaelic football, known for his speed and agility, before making the move to Australia at the end of 2025 to try his hand at AFL.

The inclusion of Jones and Murphy are two of five changes made to the team.

Darragh Joyce and Jimmy Tunstill return to the VFL after being named emergencies for the Lions Gather Round clash against North Melbourne with Isaac Waller also named.
